Anyanwu Declares He Will Lead Imo in 2027

Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said it is his turn to lead Imo State following Ikedi Ohakim, Emeka Ihedioha, and Hope Uzodimma.

He spoke in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, at the launch of a group called the “Polling Unit Movement for Sam Daddy.” “Sam Daddy” is Anyanwu’s political nickname.

Anyanwu noted that all of the leaders who subsequently governed the state—Ikedi Ohakim, Emeka Ihedioha, and Hope Uzodimma—emerged from what he calls “the old PDP in Imo.” He said it would be fair for him to have the chance to lead when voters head to the polls next year.

He stated, “We were four strong PDP members—myself, Hope Uzodimma, Ikedi Ohakim, and Emeka Ihedioha.”
