Premier League club Fulham are expected to increase their pursuit of Super Eagles defender Chibuike Nwaiwu during the summer transfer window, according to Afrik‑Foot.
Nwaiwu joined Trabzonspor in January, but his strong displays have already drawn attention from several top clubs, including West Ham United, Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen.
The Nigerian centre‑back made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Turkish side and played a key role as they finished third in the Süper Lig and lifted the Turkish Cup after a 2‑1 win over Konyaspor in the final last month.
Reports say Fulham have already rejected a €20 million offer from Trabzonspor for the young defender, but the club is expected to return with a higher bid.

Long‑term defensive option for Fulham
Fulham are preparing for a busy summer, with a new era set to begin after head coach Marco Silva departs for Benfica at the end of his contract.
The club is also planning a major defensive overhaul, as several of their defenders will enter the final year of their contracts in the 2026‑27 season.
Moroccan defender Issa Diop and Super Eagles centre‑back Calvin Bassey will be out of contract next summer, and the Cottagers are already looking ahead. This is why they want Nwaiwu to join the club immediately so he can integrate early, especially if either of the experienced defenders leave.
At 22, Nwaiwu is still very young and could offer several years at the top level, making him an attractive long‑term option for the club.

Standing 1.93 metres tall, Nwaiwu has a dominant aerial presence, allowing him to win duels and use his physical strength effectively.
He is also a significant threat in attacking set‑piece situations, having scored three goals for Trabzonspor after joining in January. This makes him an extra danger in the opposition box.
With the Premier League increasingly emphasizing physicality and set‑piece play, Nwaiwu could thrive at Fulham.
Defensive solidity
Nwaiwu’s defensive statistics are impressive and, in some areas, better than some of Fulham’s current options, although differences in league quality are a factor.
He averages 1.4 interceptions per 90 minutes, 3.8 clearances, 2.1 tackles, and wins about 66.7 % of his ground duels. These numbers make him a reliable option in defence and a strong addition to their backline.

Trabzonspor reportedly wants a record‑breaking fee between €35 – 40 million to sanction a deal this summer, as they are not in a hurry to sell him.
However, Fulham are expected to return with an improved offer, and if they meet the valuation, Nwaiwu could head to the Premier League, becoming the latest Nigerian player to join the English top flight.
