The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has signalled its willingness to form a coalition, stating it is ready to engage with other opposition parties before the 2027 general elections, and hopes that any coalition would support the NDC’s candidates.

The party’s national leader, Seriake Dickson, made the remarks in an interview on “Sunday Politics,” a programme on Channels Television.

“As an opposition leader, we will be open. Our party, the NDC, will be open to conversations within that space,” he said.

Dickson, the former governor of Bayelsa State, clarified that he would not dictate the outcome of such talks, but expressed optimism that the resulting discussions would lead to support for NDC candidates.

The senator, who is also a Bayelsa representative, added that he was not asserting dominance, noting that once the nomination process concluded, they would enter a new phase of dialogue.

It is worth noting that the party recently faced a legal challenge when a Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi state overturned its previous ruling that had directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC as a political party.
