England midfielder Eberechi Eze has addressed questions about a Ghanaian witch doctor who allegedly cursed Three Lions captain Harry Kane during the 2026 World Cup.
The 27‑year‑old was asked about the viral claim that Kane had been hexed during England’s goalless draw with Ghana.
Self‑proclaimed spiritualist Nana Kwaku Bonsam announced before the Group L match that he would cast a spell on Kane to impede the England captain’s performance against Ghana.
This is the same witch doctor who earlier claimed responsibility for a knee injury that affected Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2014 World Cup.
Kane endured a frustrating, goalless match in Foxborough.
When asked whether the alleged curse had been discussed within the England squad, Eze chuckled and asked the interviewer whether they truly believed in such matters.
The midfielder then politely distanced himself from the topic, stating he was “not too interested,” indicating a lack of desire to engage in that type of discussion.
The story gained traction because of Kane’s timing and exceptional form in the World Cup. The England captain had matched Gary Lineker’s all‑time England World Cup scoring record of 10 goals, leaving him just one goal short of the outright record.
However, his failure to score against Ghana sparked increased speculation about a possible curse.
Bonsam has since claimed that he has “released” Kane from the spell.
