Nigerian singer Oludemilade Martin Alejo, known professionally as YCee, has addressed his recent absence from the music scene.
In a recent livestream with streamer Cater Efe, the “Juice” artist explained that he stepped away from music to focus on personal growth.
He said he embarked on a period of self‑discovery and has now returned to recording.
“I have been on the mountain. I went on a journey of self‑discovery. But I am back,” he told viewers.
YCee also clarified the origin of his nickname “Omo Alhaji,” noting that his father is a Muslim, though he does not practice the faith himself.
The singer described his spiritual outlook as being grounded in “love.”
Before his hiatus, YCee had dominated the Nigerian music scene with hits such as “Jagaban,” “Jucie,” “Omo Alhaji,” and many others.
