UMUAHIA — Senator Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated that opposition voices in Nigeria cannot be silenced, emphasizing that democracy relies on the presence of strong and functional political alternatives.
Wabara made the comments in London during a visit to PDP elder Bode George, who is recovering after eye surgery.
He affirmed that opposition politics remains a vital component of democratic governance and urged continued commitment to accountability and national development through constructive engagement.
According to Wabara, Nigeria’s political space is too large to be controlled by any single individual or group, and opposition parties will continue to play their role in national discourse.
Wabara said the visit represented the PDP leadership and its members worldwide, conveying goodwill and wishes for a speedy recovery.
He expressed gratitude for George’s successful surgery and prayed for his full recovery and return to active public life.
The PDP BoT chairman described George as a founding figure of the party whose contributions have significantly shaped its history and sustained democratic practice in Nigeria.
He also praised George’s long-standing commitment to the party and the country’s democratic development.
Wabara noted that the visit reflected solidarity and respect within the PDP leadership structure.
Chief George is expected to return to Nigeria after completing his recovery period.
