Victim Escapes Abduction Amid Police-Bandit Clash in Zamfara

A kidnap victim managed to escape during a violent gunfight between police forces and armed bandits in Zamfara State.

The incident was reported in a post shared on X on Thursday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

Makama said the victim had been abducted from the Dansadau community in Maru Local Government Area and taken to a hideout by the kidnappers.

The situation changed when police launched an operation along the Bukuyum and Anka axis, areas that have experienced repeated attacks by bandits in recent months.

“During the operation, a heavy exchange of gunfire broke out between the security forces and the armed criminals,” Makama wrote.

The post added that the victim, along with a friend, seized the confusion of the gun battle to flee from their captors.

“Both victims successfully escaped from captivity and are currently safe,” the source said.

Security officials said efforts are underway to reunite the rescued victim with his family.

They also noted that authorities have contacted the Divisional Police Officer in Dansadau to help locate the victim’s relatives and ensure their safe return.
