Festus Kayamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, announced that the crew of a private jet that landed on a concrete road under construction in the Ogwashi‑Uku area near Asaba have been detained while authorities investigate the incident.
Kayamo made the statement on X on Wednesday.
According to the Daily Post, the National Civil Aviation Agency of Nigeria (NCAA) had grounded the aircraft and revoked the operator’s permit for non‑commercial flight (PNCF).
Kayamo said the aircraft was grounded after a serious breach of regulations and security was identified.
The minister added that the jet had taken off for Lagos State after landing on Asaba Road, having obtained the necessary approvals.
“I have also spoken to relevant security agencies, and I have been assured that the crew are in their custody and they are assisting them with their investigation,” he said.
