The United States announced on Friday that it is dismantling a sophisticated Iranian network that was used to acquire sensitive military technology.
According to State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott, the network “impersonated and defrauded” dozens of American technology companies, siphoning millions of dollars to purchase advanced equipment—including spectrum analyzers and security detection devices—for Iran’s defense sector.
The statement did not identify the technology companies that were lured into transactions through fake websites that mimicked legitimate American firms. The network reportedly used intermediaries in Dubai to receive shipments and then smuggled the technology into Iran in violation of U.S. sanctions.
State Department officials said the network was led by Iran-based Ali Majd Sepehr.
Earlier on Thursday, the State Department announced a $15 million reward for any information that would disrupt the financial mechanisms of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its various branches.
On Friday, the White House stated that President Donald Trump would only sign an agreement to end the war with Iran if it meets all his demands, amid uncertainty over the outcome of talks between Tehran and Washington.
