Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has been linked with a return to Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahçe, Afrik Foot reports.
After just one season with Birmingham City in the EFL Championship, the Nigerian defender has emerged as a candidate to rejoin İsmail Kartal’s side, where he previously established himself as one of the most explosive full-backs in the Super Lig.
According to Transferfeed, Fenerbahçe are considering bringing the 28-year-old back as they assess alternatives in case current first-choice right-back Nélson Semedo leaves.

One of the strongest reasons Osayi-Samuel should seriously consider is that the fans in Istanbul love him.
That point was recently reinforced by former Fenerbahçe defender Alexander Djiku, who described life with the Yellow Canaries as one of the best experiences he had as a footballer, although it was under Jose Mourinho.
“They were the kind of players who elevated the entire team’s level,” the Ghanian defender said.
“On a personal level, I became very close friends with Allan Saint-Maximin, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Youssef En-Nesyri, Jayden Oosterwolde, Michy Batshuayi, and Sebastian Szymański.
“I can also never forget the Turkish players who provided me with tremendous support in adapting to Turkey, but to be completely honest, what I miss most isn’t individual players; it’s the team spirit and camaraderie we built together.

While Birmingham gave Osayi-Samuel regular football last season, the Championship is still a level below top-flight football in Turkey.
At Fenerbahçe, he was competing for league titles, playing in Europe, and constantly at a stretch to face top-class attackers weekly.
For a 34-cap Nigeria national football team international, remaining in the Championship could gradually weaken his competitive edge.
Returning to Fenerbahçe would immediately put him back into a higher-intensity environment.

Nigeria’s right-back position remains competitive, and players like Ryan Alebiosu and Abdullahi Bewene are making strong cases to claim their place, while the undisputed starter Ola Aina is set to make a long-awaited return.
With Ethan Laird leading the race to be first-choice at Birmingham City next season, the best time for Osayi-Samuel to leave is now.
There is also the emotional factor. Djiku’s recent comments revealed how close Osayi-Samuel was to several players inside that dressing room, describing him as one of his closest friends.
That existing chemistry matters because footballers often perform better in environments where they feel trusted, understood and comfortable.
