President Donald Trump has warned Iran that the United States will take further military action if tensions continue to rise.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said, “We’re going to be attacking them very hard,” after earlier accusing Iran of stalling efforts to reach an agreement.
His remarks come as tensions remain high following recent U.S. military strikes on southern Iran and retaliatory actions by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard against U.S. assets in the region.
Trump also claimed that U.S. actions had significantly impacted Iran’s oil exports.
“We’ve been taking out millions of barrels of oil – millions of barrels,” he said.
According to the president, “Every night, we took that oil,” adding that the reduction in Iranian oil supplies was a reason why global oil prices were currently around $85 to $90 per barrel instead of $250.
The U.S. president, who has faced growing criticism over rising fuel costs at home, said oil prices would fall once the conflict ends.
The situation remains tense as efforts to revive peace talks face new challenges amid the ongoing confrontation between Washington and Tehran.
