President Bola Tinubu congratulated Oando Plc’s Group Chief Executive, Adewale Tinubu, on his 59th birthday, commending the significant influence he has had on Nigeria’s energy sector.
In a release issued yesterday by the President’s Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed his joy in celebrating Forbes’ “African King of Oil.” He noted the entrepreneur’s innovative spirit that transformed Oando from a petroleum marketing company into a fully integrated energy group with upstream, midstream, and downstream operations.
Tinubu highlighted the economic impact of the attorney and businessman’s investments, which have created numerous job opportunities for Nigerians. He also referenced landmark deals such as the ConocoPhillips acquisition and the historic listings on the South African and Nigerian stock exchanges.
The President praised Oando’s Group Chief Executive for championing the government’s local content development policy, leading indigenous companies into the oil and gas sector, and taking a leading role in environmental protection.
He acknowledged Wale Tinubu’s visionary role in establishing the Oando Foundation in 2011, which now supports more than 88 schools across the country and promotes community development and environmental sustainability.
Tinubu prayed for the well‑being of the entrepreneur and his family.
