Super Eagles: Ogbu set for lengthy injury layoff

Super Eagles defender Igoh Ogbu is expected to miss a long period of football following an injury, DAILY POST reports.

Ogbu suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon while training with the Super Eagles in Lisbon on Saturday.

Super Eagles media officer Promise Efoghe confirmed the news on Sunday, stating that the 26‑year‑old will undergo imaging to determine the extent of the damage.

According to SCORENigeria, the centre‑back will be sidelined for at least nine months.

Ogbu had appeared for the team at the invitational Unity Cup in London and in the friendly against Poland, which finished in a 2‑2 draw.

He was also included in the Super Eagles squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
