Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho and a prominent Yoruba Nation advocate, announced that operatives from his private security group, Iru Ekun, who were wounded during an ambush by suspected bandits in Old Oyo National Park, Oyo State, have made a full recovery.
Igboho shared this information in a video message, in which he addressed widespread rumors about his own well‑being and confirmed that he is safe and healthy.
He also explained that the injured members of his team had healed from their wounds and reiterated his commitment to continue actions aimed at eliminating criminal elements that threaten peace and security in the region.
“I greet you, my fathers and mothers. It’s your son, Sunday Igboho. My brothers and sisters all over the world, today is the 28th of June, 2026.”
“Rumours have been circulating, but I want to use this opportunity to assure all my loved ones across the world that I am safe.”
“Those who sustained injuries have now recovered. We will not relent until those disturbing the peace of our land are driven out,” he said.
His remarks followed the ambush of Iru Ekun members during an operation in Old Oyo National Park.
The operatives were reportedly on a mission to locate suspected kidnappers and other armed criminals believed to be operating within the forest reserve when they were attacked.
Sources indicated that the team had deployed surveillance drones to identify suspected criminal hideouts and monitor the movements of armed groups before advancing into the area.
The operation escalated into a fierce gun battle when heavily armed men—believed to be part of cross‑border criminal networks—opened fire on the operatives.
Several members of the Iru Ekun team were wounded during the exchange before receiving medical attention.
Despite the attack, Igboho maintained that the operation did not weaken the group’s resolve, insisting that efforts to rid the region of criminal elements would continue.
