The Imo State Police Command has begun an investigation into the alleged molestation of a young man in Nduhobokwe, Uzoagba, Ikeduru Local Government Area, Imo State.

The investigation was prompted by a video circulating on social media that shows police officers assaulting the young man.

After a prompt review, the six officers identified are Inspector Ugochukwu Ibe, Inspector Nwachi Chimezie, Sergeant Ugoezuhu Austin, Corporal Michael Obi, Corporal Ebuka Onwuegbu, and Corporal Amos Sunny.

In response, State Commissioner of Police CP Audu Garba Bosso has ordered a thorough investigation to determine the full circumstances of the officers' misconduct.

The officers have been taken into custody, and disciplinary procedures have begun in accordance with the Nigeria Police Force regulations.

The command used the statement to reaffirm its zero‑tolerance policy on police misconduct, unprofessional conduct, and violations of citizens' rights.

In a press statement released to journalists by spokesperson Henry Okoye, the command said the officers' actions, as shown in the video, are inconsistent with the values, ethics, and professional standards of the Nigeria Police Force.

The command assured the public that the matter would be handled thoroughly, transparently, and in line with established procedures.

“The outcome of the investigation and disciplinary process will be communicated to the public in due course,” the statement added.
