Security, tax, and environmental concerns delay reopening of Oshodi Resettlement Market

On Wednesday, business activity halted as the Oshodi Resettlement Market in Lagos stayed closed after the Lagos State Government shut it down following an alleged assault on officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), commonly called KAI.

A visit revealed all entrances locked, with official closure notices posted at multiple entry points.

Traders lingered around the premises, and some gathered in small groups to await updates on reopening efforts. Commercial activity had stopped entirely, leaving many owners uncertain about their livelihoods.
