The family of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, announced that three kidnapping victims were safely rescued, underscoring the importance of national unity, citizen cooperation, and effective coordination among security agencies in addressing insecurity in Nigeria.
The rescued individuals are Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John‑Paul and her twin sons, Peter and Paul, who had been abducted earlier.
In a statement released by Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, the family expressed gratitude to God, the security forces, and Nigerians whose support helped secure the successful operation.
“We are delighted to announce that the victims have been rescued safely and are in good condition,” the statement read.
The family said the operation demonstrated the value of collective action, commitment, and cooperation in confronting security challenges.
They praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his concern and dedication to the security and welfare of Nigerians, and acknowledged the support of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde during the victims’ captivity.
Special thanks were extended to the Inspector‑General of Police, the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, the Oyo State Police Command, and the state Commissioner of Police for their efforts during the rescue.
The statement also highlighted the role of the Department of State Services (DSS), noting that intelligence‑led operations by officers at its national headquarters in Abuja and the Oyo State Directorate were instrumental in securing the victims’ release.
Using the occasion, the family called for greater national cooperation to tackle insecurity, stating that “insecurity is a challenge that transcends partisan politics, ethnic affiliations, religious differences and social status.”
They emphasized that “it requires collective vigilance, cooperation and collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, political leaders, community stakeholders and citizens.”
The family stressed that sustained support for security agencies and continued collaboration among stakeholders are essential to improving security nationwide.
“Together, we can build a nation where every citizen feels safe, protected and free to pursue legitimate aspirations without fear,” the statement added.
While celebrating the rescue, the family also expressed concern for other kidnapping victims still in captivity and urged continued efforts to secure their freedom.
“Our thoughts and prayers remain with other victims of kidnapping and their families who are still enduring the pain and uncertainty of captivity,” the statement said.
The family further urged Nigerians to remain united against criminality and to continue supporting lawful efforts aimed at protecting lives and property nationwide.
