Raising Responsible, Visionary Leaders: Building the Nigeria of Our Dreams – Peter Obi

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, argues that cultivating a new generation of responsible and visionary leaders who are dedicated to self‑less service and sound governance is essential for building a prosperous nation.

Obi made the remarks in a Facebook post on Sunday following his engagement with students at Madonna University in Okija, Anambra State.

The former governor of Anambra State said the interactive session allowed him to hear questions from students that reflected the frustrations of many young Nigerians, who feel that poor governance and widespread corruption have blocked their opportunities to reach their full potential.

Despite these challenges, Obi expressed encouragement at the students’ optimism and determination to contribute to national development.

He added that leadership remains the most important factor in a country’s progress, and that effective leaders must combine character, competence, capacity and compassion, as well as a willingness to make sacrifices for the public good.

“Nigeria’s future depends on leaders who are committed to protecting lives, investing in education, creating opportunities and building strong institutions,” Obi said.

“Together, by raising a new generation of responsible and visionary leaders, we can build the Nigeria of our dreams that is possible,” he added.
