LAGOS — Several communities in Isashi, Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Okokomaiko and Ojo were submerged following three days of torrential rainfall, forcing many residents to abandon their homes.

Some affected residents have relocated temporarily to stay with relatives and friends as floodwaters inundated their houses.

One of the victims, Mr. Joel Ubah, a resident of James Kunle Street, Isashi, appealed to the Lagos State Government for urgent intervention.

Pointing to his submerged four-bedroom bungalow, Ubah said he completed the building in April 2025 and moved in the following month.

“Look at my house. I completed it in April 2025 and moved in May, but I can’t stay there now. All the rooms are flooded.

“The canal behind my house is blocked, while the major bridge and waterway at Obadore are being sand-filled.

“I am begging the Lagos State Government to come to our rescue. If the rains and flooding continue, many buildings may collapse,” he said.
