Defender Orji Kalu of Barau FC said his side fought hard to keep their place in Nigeria’s top flight.
The Maliya Boys finished the season in eighth place, five points clear of the relegation zone.
Orji explained that the club’s main objective was to survive in the NPFL, a goal they achieved.
“We just have to fight to remain in the NPFL as we all know Barau FC is a club that just got promoted; we just have to maintain that status,” Orji told Totorinews.
He also expressed optimism for the upcoming 2026‑27 NPFL campaign.
“We will see how we can achieve more than just avoiding relegation in the next campaign,” he added.
Barau FC currently occupies a quarter‑final spot in the 2026 President Federation Cup after a win over Sunshine Stars U‑19 in the round of 16.
