Brazil forward Neymar revealed that he cried alone after his side’s World Cup win over Scotland last night.

Neymar entered the match as a substitute for Matheus Cunha in the second half, as Brazil secured a 3-0 victory and topped Group C with seven points.

The 34‑year‑old had been sidelined for Brazil’s first two World Cup fixtures against Morocco and Haiti because of a calf injury.

During his post‑match interview, Neymar thanked Brazilian supporters, as well as his family and friends.

“No doubt, I rate this as one of the most special days of my career. It’s every boy’s dream to play for Seleção, and I’ve been given this chance,” Neymar said as quoted by FIFA’s website.

“I’ve been away for many days now, and I missed it and was eager to get back. I felt a big relief today. I got a bit emotional and cried alone afterwards, because it feels so good to live all of this one more time.”

“I thank every Brazilian fan who rooted for me, especially my family and my friends.”

Brazil’s goals against Scotland were scored by Vinicius Junior and Cunha.
