Argentina captain Lionel Messi made history by scoring in his side’s final group match of the World Cup against Jordan.
Messi entered the game as a substitute and netted a goal as Argentina won 3–1.
The 39‑year‑old Inter Miami forward now has six goals in the tournament.
He previously scored three times against Algeria, two against Austria, and one against Jordan.
With the goal against Jordan, Messi became the first player ever to score in seven consecutive FIFA World Cup matches – the last four in 2022 and the first three in 2026.
The victory secured first place for Argentina in Group J, earning the maximum nine points from three games.
The reigning World Cup champions will meet Cape Verde in the Round of 32 in the coming days.
