Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, urged that every available resource be mobilized to tackle the rising insecurity in the country.
Speaking on Tuesday, Obasa called on all stakeholders to devise lasting solutions that would restore peace and security across various communities nationwide.
He made the appeal while addressing teachers who had staged a protest over the recent abduction of 39 students and seven teachers in Oyo State.
The demonstrators were led by Hassan Akintoye, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers in the state.
Teachers in Oyo State had organized a peaceful demonstration in response to the abduction that occurred on Friday, 15 May 2026, in several communities within Oriire Local Government Area.
While speaking to the teachers at the Assembly complex, Obasa assured them that the legislature remains committed to establishing a state police force.
The lawmaker warned social media users against spreading misinformation that could inflame public anxiety.
He said, “We feel the pains of our teachers and we sympathise with them. We are indeed in this together and we will not fold our arms. We are all stakeholders in this situation and must collectively seek solutions that will bring lasting peace and security to our schools and communities.”
