Ahmed Saleh, an aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), claims he was unfairly excluded from the party’s House of Representatives primary election in Katsina State.

Saleh, who is also known as Ahmed Saleh Junior, made the allegation after the primary held in Mani on Saturday.

He said that he had initially received endorsement from stakeholders following the APC’s adoption of a consensus arrangement in the constituency.

According to him, his name was included in the party’s list after that endorsement and the stakeholders had supported his candidacy.

Saleh further explained that the consensus arrangement was later cancelled, prompting the party to conduct a new process through a committee.

He claimed that a subsequent voting exercise was held in which he secured majority support from stakeholders, but that the result was later changed.

He also alleged that he was prevented from taking part in the final stage of the process because restrictions were imposed on him during the election.

Saleh said the primary proceeded in his absence and that the results were announced without his participation.

He noted that the party had established an elders’ committee to investigate complaints arising from the exercise.

Saleh expressed confidence that the committee would address the grievances and ensure fairness.

A government official in Katsina said the state government was not aware of any claim of detention involving the aspirant.
