Mr. Adamu Abubakar, the son of former Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination for the House of Representatives seat in Chanchaga Federal Constituency, Niger State.
Returning Officer Mr. Dan Islam reported that Abubakar received 30,650 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Mr. Nmaa Ahmed, who garnered 1,271 votes. Mr. Shuaibu Mairago, the third candidate, obtained 311 votes in the primary that covered all 11 wards of the constituency.
Islam declared Abubakar the winner and formally returned him as the APC candidate for the 2026 House of Representatives election.
In Lapai Federal Constituency, Returning Officer Mr. Ibrahim Usman announced that Alhaji Abdullahi Mahmud won the APC primary with 8,559 votes. Mr. Sadiqu Mustapha received 395 votes, while Mr. Mahawiya Yusuf polled 247 votes in the contest held across 10 wards. Usman declared Mahmud the party’s candidate for the seat.
Prof. Yakubu Auna also emerged victorious in the APC primary for Magama/Rijau Federal Constituency.
