Austria secured a 3‑1 victory over Jordan, the World Cup debutants, on Tuesday. The match concluded with a penalty goal from seasoned striker Marko Arnautovic.

Jordan, however, remained competitive throughout and celebrated a historic moment by scoring their first ever World Cup goal, netted by Ali Olwan.
