Joe Igbokwe, a senior figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), has disclosed the financial hardships he faced before gaining public attention.
He clarified that his wealth did not originate from his affiliation with the ruling party, contrary to some claims.
Igbokwe, who once worked as a bus conductor in Lagos, also ran several small businesses before achieving success.
In a post on his official Facebook page, he wrote, “Some people will look at me today and imagine that I am wealthy simply because I belong to APC Nigeria.”
“My story will shock you to the core. I began feeding my mother while I was in primary school in the 1970s. I sold firewood and water. I planted yams for people. I worked as a bus conductor in Lagos. I started a restaurant after graduating. I sold motor parts and cars on Western Avenue in Lagos, and I bought and sold land. I have also authored five books. Today I am a fulfilled man. One thing led to another.”
Igbokwe has faced frequent online criticism for his support of the ruling party and President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
