The Inspector‑General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, announced that the police force will work more closely with other security agencies to eliminate banditry and related violent crimes across Nigeria, stating that “enough is enough.”
Disu made the declaration in Gusau, Zamfara State, shortly after attending the funeral prayers of three police officers who were killed by an improvised explosive device that was allegedly planted by bandits on the Bagega–Anka road.
The IGP was visiting the state to pay his respects following the attack.
He said that the police, together with other security bodies, would no longer tolerate killings, kidnappings and other criminal acts that target innocent citizens.
Disu added that the sacrifices of the fallen officers would not be in vain and that efforts were underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He praised the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other agencies for their ongoing cooperation in the fight against insecurity.
The IGP assured that coordinated operations would continue until banditry and related crimes are significantly reduced throughout the country.
He also urged police officers to remain vigilant and professional in carrying out their duties, while promising improved welfare and logistical support.
Disu said that the Federal Government and security leadership were fully committed to restoring peace and stability nationwide.
He called on officers to intensify efforts to deny criminal groups operational freedom and to prevent further attacks on communities.
The IGP reaffirmed that security personnel should remain proactive in responding to threats in the field, emphasizing the importance of protecting lives and restoring public confidence.
He concluded by reiterating the resolve of security agencies to maintain pressure on criminal elements until lasting peace is achieved in affected regions.
