Fire razes plastic store in Osogbo

A well‑known plastic store, Iyanu Plastic, located in Osogbo, was destroyed by fire on Sunday, resulting in the loss of property worth millions of naira.

Mr Ibrahim Adekunle, Assistant Director Operations of the Osun Fire Service, confirmed the incident and said the blaze began in the afternoon.

“Officials were able to subdue the fire. The fire destroyed all the plastics, and it was difficult to control because the materials were flammable,” Adekunle told the News Agency of Nigeria.

He added that the service was alerted to the fire at about 2:30 p.m. and that the cause of the fire had not yet been determined. No fatalities were reported.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that property worth N5.42 billion was lost to fire outbreaks in Osun between January and December 2025.

This figure was released by the Osun Fire Service as part of its annual report on fire incidents for 2025, which recorded 101 fire disasters during that period.
