Suspected bandits abducted a resident named Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare and set fire to a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) outpost and a house in Tsamiya community, Kebbi State.
The incident was announced in a statement released on Sunday by Kebbi State Police Command spokesperson SP Bashir Usman.
According to the statement, the attackers entered the community on the night of Saturday, June 20, 2026, firing sporadically and creating panic among residents.
Police said the assailants burned an NSCDC checkpoint and the home of Sule Mai Goge before fleeing the area.
“In the course of the attack, the bandits abducted one Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare and escaped to an unknown destination,” the statement read.
Following the incident, the Kebbi State Commissioner of Police ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the community to strengthen security and protect lives and property.
The command added that efforts are underway to rescue the abducted victim and locate those responsible for the attack.
“The police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have commenced investigations and intensified operations aimed at rescuing the kidnapped victim and bringing the perpetrators to justice,” the statement added.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and continue providing useful information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities in the area.
