Atiku’s presidency will be synonymous to Fulani taking power – Babachir Lawal

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Law Lawal, has claimed that the presidency of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate Atiku Abubakar would be equivalent to a Fulani presidency.

Law Lawal, who recently left the ADC after alleging that the party’s primary election was flawed, made the remarks in a Facebook post late Saturday.

He said his initial criticism of Atiku—whom he referred to as “Kachalla”—prompted many members of Nigeria’s Fulani community to attack him with a range of insults and threats.

“Atiku’s presidency will be synonymous with a Fulani presidency, just as Bola Tinubu’s presidency is synonymous with a Yoruba presidency, and the Yorubas are undoubtedly proud of him,” Law Lawal said.

“The vile propaganda, insults and threats that Atiku’s supporters and social‑media agitators have been spreading against me arise from their claim that I have insulted the entire Fulani race by highlighting his shortcomings,” he added.

“If pointing out the danger that an Atiku presidency could pose to the country is seen as an insult to the Fulani race, and if that is how the Fulani choose to interpret it, so be it. It is a free world,” Law Lawal concluded.
