Arsenal to sign Bruno Guimarães for Arteta

Arsenal is interested in signing Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United to bolster the squad of manager Mikel Arteta.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal formally approached Newcastle within the past 24 hours to acquire the Brazilian international.

The Gunners offered £55 million, but Newcastle rejected the bid outright.

Newcastle expressed a desire to retain the 28‑year‑old and informed Arsenal that the club would not accept the £55 million offer.

Guimarães is now in the last two years of his contract with Newcastle United.

He has performed strongly for Brazil during the current FIFA World Cup.
