In a statement delivered in Ilorin on Thursday evening, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), announced that the party will not merge with any other political party ahead of the 2027 general elections. “Our doors are open to anyone who wishes to join us,” he said.
Abdullahi addressed ADC members and leaders during the celebration of Eid al‑Adha, urging Nigerians to support the party as a means of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the upcoming polls.
He criticised the APC government for what he described as “untold hardship” inflicted on the nation, calling for its rejection in the 2027 elections. “It is disheartening that we are experiencing a high rate of insecurity in the country as we cannot live peacefully again,” he added, highlighting the toll of kidnapping incidents across several states.
Abdullahi also condemned the economic downturn, poverty, and perceived lack of good governance under the APC, asserting that the ADC is the sole party capable of rescuing Nigeria. He urged party members to prepare for the challenges ahead, emphasizing that a broad mobilisation could bring positive change to Nigerian politics.
The spokesperson noted that ADC candidates have been vetted and are committed to the party’s manifestos, promising qualitative leadership if elected. He said the party’s leadership would actively support candidates, even accompanying them to polling stations to help secure votes.
He further assured that the ADC will form government in Kwara State and at the national level in 2027, adding that the party’s candidates are qualified, experienced, and free from prior EFCC involvement.
Abdullahi concluded by calling on the electorate for their support, stressing that effective governance requires the people’s participation.
