Professor David Jatau, Adamawa State’s Commissioner for Agriculture, has died.
Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, announced the death in a statement on Saturday.
Professor Jatau reportedly passed away in Abuja after a brief illness.
The former commissioner was credited with leading several initiatives designed to improve food security, increase agricultural productivity, and empower farmers in the state.
The governor described the late Commissioner as a loyal and dedicated public officer who distinguished himself both as an academic of repute and as a committed public servant.
“Professor Jatau was a man of intellect, integrity, and service. He brought his wealth of knowledge from the ivory tower into government and deployed it diligently for the growth of our agricultural sector and the well‑being of our people,” the governor said in a statement.
