Accord Party’s national leadership has requested the redeployment of Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Gotan, before the August 15 governorship election.

The party cited concerns about the state’s security situation and urged federal authorities to take urgent measures to ensure peaceful elections.

It also appealed to President Bola Tinubu, the Inspector‑General of Police, the Director‑General of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the National Security Adviser to intervene and reinforce security arrangements in the state.

In a statement from National Publicity Secretary Joseph Omorogbe, Accord expressed growing concern over violence reported in parts of the state and its potential impact on the upcoming governorship election.

The party said it had lost confidence in the current police leadership’s ability to manage emerging security challenges and maintain public trust.

“Accord has lost confidence in the ability and capacity of the Osun State Commissioner of Police to effectively curb violence and guarantee a secure environment for political participation,” the statement said.

The party added that it had communicated its concerns to relevant security agencies and called for stronger efforts to investigate reported incidents and bring perpetrators to justice.
