2026 World Cup: Iwobi names teams to beat Spain and Brazil for the trophy

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has named England his favourite team to win the 2026 World Cup.

The Three Lions opened their campaign with a 4‑2 victory over Croatia.

It was England’s first win against a side ranked in FIFA’s top 15 since the 2002 edition, when they defeated Argentina.

France also started strongly, beating Senegal 3‑1, while Spain routed Saudi Arabia 4‑0 after a surprising 0‑0 draw with Cape Verde.

“I personally believe England have a great, great chance,” Iwobi told SkySports.

“I mean they have so many stars in the team, so much ability. Even the players who aren’t starting, anyone who comes off the bench can hurt the opposition team.”

“So, I’ll say England, but I also believe in France. Of course the attacking threat that France have is scary, but I’d actually hope England win it.”
