Tunisia crash out after Japan 4-0 thrashing

On Saturday, Japan recorded the 1,000th match in World Cup history by defeating Tunisia 4–0, bringing them closer to a spot in the last 32.

Ayase Ueda netted a brace, and Daichi Kamada and Junya Ito added goals, putting Japan alongside the Netherlands on four points at the top of Group F.

After a 5–1 loss to Sweden in their opening match, Tunisia can no longer reach the knockout stage.

The Blue Samurai, who drew 2–2 with the Netherlands in their Group F opener, dominated the contest at Monterrey Stadium.

The defeat was the first loss under new Tunisia coach Herve Renard, who was appointed after Sabri Lamouchi was dismissed following the Sweden defeat.

Renard’s side never posed a threat to the technically superior Japanese squad, which quickly settled into its trademark fluid passing style.

Daichi Kamada scored after just four minutes, converting a close‑range finish that followed skillful interplay between Ao Tanaka and Keito Nakamura.

Japan nearly doubled the lead moments later, but a desperate clearance by Dylan Bronn kept the score at 1–0.

Tunisia goalkeeper Aymen Dahmen made a crucial save, pulling away a shot that had narrowly missed the goal line.

In the 31st minute, striker Ueda capitalised on hesitant Tunisian defence, driving forward and striking a low shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area to make it 2–0.

The second half saw Junya Ito tap in a brilliant through ball to score in the 69th minute, followed by Ueda’s looping header in the 83rd minute, sealing the 4–0 result.
