On Thursday, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike expressed satisfaction with the Gomani‑to‑Yangoji road project in Abuja, noting that it supports President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to extend infrastructure beyond city centres and develop satellite communities.
During a site inspection, Wike said the Tinubu administration has deliberately prioritized development in rural and satellite towns to reduce rural‑urban migration and enhance connectivity across the FCT.
He added that the road is part of a wider infrastructure program that started with the A2‑Pai road, inaugurated by President Tinubu in his second year.
“Remember that when we came on board, one of the directives of Mr. President is that we should not concentrate development, we should not concentrate provision of infrastructure just only in the cities. We must open up all the satellite towns in order to discourage rural-urban migration,” Wike said.
Wike said the 13‑kilometre Gomani‑Yangoji road was contracted to Zeberced Construction Company, the firm that also built the A2‑Pai road.
He noted that the project is well advanced, with the bridge already launched and drainage works almost finished.
“From what we’ve seen, you can attest to the fact that we are very much encouraged. Luckily, the bridge had been launched, which we are standing on, the drainages have been done, optimized in 90 to 95 per cent. They are now building the streetlight pillars,” he stated.
He said the road is slated for inauguration as part of events celebrating President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office this June.
Wike praised Zeberced Construction Company for its quality workmanship and punctual delivery.
“I commend, as usual, the contractor, Zeberced, not only for providing quality jobs, but also keeping to the timeline, making promises that we will inaugurate this road this June. I’m happy,” he said.
The minister also commended the company’s management and staff for their dedication to completing the project.
Wike added that the President would be pleased to see infrastructure reach underserved communities throughout the territory.
“I believe that when Mr. President comes here, it will be a thing of joy for him to see that development is passing through all the satellite towns,” Wike added.
