Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, announced that the chamber will take a decisive step toward creating state police.
During a media briefing on Wednesday, Kalu said legislators are preparing to vote on several constitutional amendment bills, including provisions for decentralized policing.
He stated that the House has chosen to prioritise the establishment of state police over other pending bills.
According to him, the House has instructed all members who are currently outside Abuja to suspend their oversight duties and return to parliament on Thursday for the voting process.
It is worth noting that the state police bill is sponsored by the Deputy Speaker and 14 other House members.
