Reece James: I'm devastated that Chelsea sold Cucurella to Real Madrid

Chelsea captain Reece James said he is “devastated” to see Marc Cucurella leave the Premier League club for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid signed Cucurella quickly after the new manager, Jose Mourinho, requested the move.

The transfer is valued at €55 million (£47.5 m) plus €5 million (£4.3 m) in add‑ons.

Cucurella spent four seasons with Chelsea, winning the Club World Cup and the Conference League.

“You know, he’s obviously an amazing player, one of the best left‑backs in the world, for sure,” James told talkSPORT.

“This is football. Players move every few months and I’m devastated to see him go. But I wish him all the best.”
