Police arrest 10 in connection with the murder of Miyetti Allah chairman Ardo Risku

The Benue State Police Command has detained ten suspects linked to the murder of Ardo Risku Mohammed, the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), and Yakubu Isa in Benue State. The arrests were made following intensive intelligence gathering and coordinated tactical operations conducted by police officers in Otukpo on the night of June 27, 2026.

In a statement released on Saturday, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Udeme Edet announced that the arrests represented a major breakthrough in the investigation of the brutal killings.

The individuals apprehended are: Titus Thyodenda (25), Utibe Sam (20), Owoicho Ameh (18), Sunday Useni (21), Sunday Ogbanje (46), Daniel Raphael (23), Adokole John (24), Samuel Ogazi (32), Agbo Daniel (25), and Onazi James (30).

Commissioner of Police for Benue State, CP Cletus C.N. Nwadiogbu, praised the tactical teams and investigators for their swift and professional response, describing the arrests as a significant step toward securing justice.

The commissioner assured residents that the investigation is ongoing and that efforts have intensified to locate and arrest additional persons connected to the killings. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to prosecuting all individuals found guilty in accordance with the law.

CP Nwadiogbu also urged state residents to remain calm, continue cooperating with security agencies, and provide credible information that could aid the investigation.

“The Benue State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to protecting lives and property while sustaining peace and security across the state,” the statement added.

Earlier, the Command condemned the killing of Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, the Benue State Chairman of MACBAN, and Yakubu Isa, describing the attack as tragic and vowing to bring those responsible to justice.
