The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has awarded Certificates of Return to its gubernatorial candidates in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

The certificates were conferred during a stakeholders meeting in Abuja that assembled members of the interim National Working Committee (iNWC), the Board of Trustees (BoT), state chairmen, and the gubernatorial candidates.

The meeting was chaired by the iNWC’s National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN.

On behalf of the state chairmen, Dupe Aisida, Esq., remarked that “the INWC is the oxygen of the party,” adding that the committee supplies all necessary support for the party’s state‑level operations.

He praised the INWC’s vision and resolve, noting that its forward‑moving focus, even amid challenges, has enabled the party to reach this milestone.

He added that, despite widespread doubts that the party could withstand the APC federal government’s onslaught—which had strained both the opposition and the nation—the INWC endured the turmoil and kept the party standing.

The event’s highlight was the formal conferral of Certificates of Return to every gubernatorial candidate by the iNWC.

The ceremony officially ratified the candidates’ victories after the party’s recent primary elections.

Speaking for the gubernatorial candidates, Barr. Benedict Etanabene stated, “We did not take any risk by choosing tickets under the Turaki‑led PDP, because as a lawyer I know this is the authentic and mainstream party.”

He further praised the PDP leadership under Turaki, noting that the only period Nigerians enjoyed meaningful leadership was when the party’s presidential candidate, Goodluck Jonathan, served as President.

The PDP’s gubernatorial candidate for Adamawa State also lauded the leadership for its impeccable party management.

Andrew expressed confidence that under Kabiru Turaki’s leadership, the party will win not only at the state level but also secure victory nationally.

The candidates reaffirmed their commitment to the party, pledging continued support and collaboration with the leadership before the general elections.
