Nigerian discharged after gas plant explosion in Qatar, NiDCOM confirms

NiDCOM confirmed that a Nigerian employee who was injured in last week’s explosion at Qatar’s Barzan Gas Supply Facility in Ras Laffan has been discharged from the hospital and is now recovering.

The statement, released on Saturday, named the victim as Jubril Akorede Abdulrahman and expressed relief at his recovery.

The statement, signed by NiDCOM’s Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Abdur‑Rahman Balogun, said Abdulrahman was one of many workers injured when an explosion ignited a fire at the Qatar Energy‑operated facility on the night of June 21, 2026.

NiDCOM added that the Nigerian has finished his medical treatment and is now recuperating in employer‑provided accommodation.
