Quinten Timber will be unavailable for the Netherlands’ second group match of the World Cup against Sweden this Saturday.

Reddit reports that the Olympique Marseille midfielder sustained a mild concussion during training on Thursday.

The collision took place during the closed‑door segment of the training session on the Kansas City Current pitch, out of media view. Only the initial fifteen minutes of the session were open to the press.

Timber, who celebrated his 25th birthday yesterday and entered the match against Japan as a substitute, had earlier watched his twin brother Jurriën withdraw from the tournament. The Arsenal defender had joined the Dutch squad during later preparations but ultimately withdrew just before the friendly against Uzbekistan in New York.

The Dutch squad will hold one final training session at their Kansas City base on Friday morning. In the afternoon, they will travel to Houston, where a press conference is planned at the stadium that evening.
