The National Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Osa Director, thanked President Bola Tinubu for awarding him a national honour.
During an interview on Arise Television, Director praised Tinubu, stating that the president should be commended for his actions.
He was responding to the conferment of national honours on himself and other pro‑democracy activists.
“I’m happy that President Tinubu, being a pro‑democracy activist, recognised the need to correct these anomalies because in 1999 it was the pro‑democracy activists who ensured Obasanjo didn’t die in jail,” he said.
“But when he became president, he didn’t appreciate the activists and the media. So, if President Tinubu decides to right that wrong, he should be commended,” Director added.
“I’m not one who plays politics of vindictiveness. I’m not going to deny my social relationship with people because I’m in the opposition party,” he concluded.
