NDC gubernatorial candidate Gwarzo files complaint against Kano governor’s media aide

Former Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo has lodged a petition against Sunusi Bature, the Director General of Media and Publicity for the Kano State Governor, claiming that Bature has defamed him and tarnished his reputation.

The petition was filed with the Kano State Commissioner of Police on 17 June 2026 by Gwarzo’s lawyer, Barr. Nazifi Yusuf Gorondutse.

According to the petition, Bature named Gwarzo at a political gathering on 13 June 2026, alleging that Gwarzo had received “Awalaja” from the chairmen of the 44 local government areas in Kano State.

The petition also states that a video of Bature’s remarks was shared on social media, which it claims has harmed Gwarzo’s reputation.

Gorondutse has requested that the police investigate the allegations and take appropriate legal action.
