Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has prolonged the curfew in ten local government areas by an additional 24 hours.
The announcement was issued in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
The statement was released to DAILY POST on Thursday evening by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
DAILY POST reports that the governor had previously imposed a curfew on ten local government areas around Old Oyo National Park.
The park has long been a concern for state residents.
It has been reported that the students and teachers who were recently kidnapped are being held in the park.
Makinde extended the curfew by 24 hours on Thursday.
The curfew, originally scheduled to last 48 hours, will now remain in effect until Saturday, June 27, 2026.
DAILY POST lists the affected local government areas as follows: Oriire (headquarters: Ikoyi-Ile), Orelope (headquarters: Igboho), Irepo (headquarters: Kisi), Saki West (headquarters: Saki), and Saki East (headquarters: Ago-Amodu).
Other affected areas include Atisbo (headquarters: Tede/Ago-Are), Itesiwaju (headquarters: Otu), Iseyin (headquarters: Iseyin), Olorunsogo (headquarters: Igbeti), and Atiba (headquarters: Offa-Meta, Oyo).
