The Lagos State Government has announced that 28,000 trucks have been registered on the Lekki‑Epe electronic call‑up system, a measure designed to regulate truck movement along the corridor.
Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun Osiyemi made the disclosure on Thursday at a stakeholders’ meeting that included the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), terminal operators, transport unions and other industry participants.
Osiyemi cautioned that, despite the growing number of registrations, some truck operators were still entering the Lekki‑Epe corridor without obtaining approval through the electronic call‑up platform.
He warned that the government would soon implement strict enforcement to ensure full compliance with the system.
The meeting, attended by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation Olawale Musa, was convened to assess progress and challenges related to the implementation of the E‑Call‑Up system around the Dangote Refinery, Lekki Free Zone and Lekki Deep Sea Port corridor.
During the session, the consultant overseeing the E‑Call‑Up project reported that about 11,000 transport operators had registered on the platform, while approximately 28,000 trucks had been captured in the system to date.
Other attendees included General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Olalekan Bakare‑Oki, Director of Transport Operations Engr. Olasunkanmi Ojowuro, officials of NUPENG, terminal operators, E‑Call‑Up consultants, directors from the Ministry of Transportation, and other transport sector stakeholders.
The Lagos State Government began enforcing the electronic call‑up system for tankers and articulated vehicles on the Lekki‑Epe corridor in 2025.
The initiative was launched to prevent the traffic gridlock that previously plagued Apapa by replacing indiscriminate truck parking with a coordinated, technology‑driven scheduling process.
Under the system, truck operators must register online, upload their “Authority to Load” documents, and await electronic clearance before accessing the Lekki‑Epe axis.
