Konate signs four-year deal with Real Madrid

Real Madrid announced that defender Ibrahima Konate will join the club from Liverpool on a four‑year contract, effective after his current deal at Anfield expires.

In a statement, the Spanish club said that Konate and the club had “reached an agreement for him to become a Real Madrid player for the next four seasons, until June 30 2030.”

The 27‑year‑old signed for Liverpool in 2021 after leaving RB Leipzig. During his time in England he made 183 appearances and won the Premier League in 2025 and the FA Cup in 2022, among other trophies.

Konate, who is currently with France at the World Cup, will join a Real side that has already strengthened its squad this summer. The club has appointed Jose Mourinho as head coach and added Spain left‑back Marc Cucurella and Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva to its roster.

Real Madrid has also been linked with Inter Milan wing‑back Denzel Dumfries as part of a broader squad overhaul, following two consecutive seasons without a major trophy.

The club recently extended centre‑back Antonio Rüdiger’s contract until 2027, after Dani Carvajal and David Alaba departed at the end of their contracts.
