Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman said his team needs to elevate their performance before facing Sweden in a key Group F match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Saturday.
The Dutch enter the game under pressure, having lost a late advantage in a 2‑2 draw with Japan in their opener, whereas Sweden come into the match brimming with confidence after a 5‑1 rout of Tunisia — the most goals they have scored in a World Cup match since 1938.
Reuters reports that the Netherlands remained unbeaten during qualifying, yet doubts arose when Koeman’s tactical change against Japan failed to preserve their lead, allowing an 89th‑minute equaliser.
Having appeared overly cautious in their first match, the Dutch are expected to deliver a more convincing performance against a Sweden side that has been revitalised under coach Graham Potter.
